CREAF is seeking a research technician specialized in biodiversity conservation, information management, and planning, with proficiency in ICT tools and experience in drafting technical and scientific documents. This position is in the context of the BIOAGORA project (Biodiversity Knowledge Agora: Developing the Science Service for European Research and Biodiversity Policymaking) with ref. 101059438 funded by European Commission and to be part of the Catalan representation in Biodiversa + of the Technical Office of the Observatory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity (OPNB) project and funded by Departament de Territori, Habitatge i Transició Ecologica de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
The selected candidate will coordinate activities promoted by the Observatory in collaboration with European partners, contributing to the development of a coordinated biodiversity observation and monitoring system at the European scale. These tasks will be carried out within the broader framework of projects related to biodiversity monitoring and conservation planning led by the OPNB.
Bioagora is a European initiative designed to enhance the impact of biodiversity research on policy and society. Its goal is to develop a science–policy interface that supports evidence‑based decision‑making in Europe. Central to the project is the mobilization and harmonization of biodiversity data, which are essential for monitoring progress toward biodiversity objectives. The OPNB aims to serve as Catalonia’s reference body for informing decision‑making on nature conservation. Its mission is to organize, integrate, process, and disseminate information on the region’s natural heritage; to act as a platform for collaboration among research entities; and to provide accessible knowledge for individuals and organizations engaged in environmental work. The OPNB’s management, coordinated through its Technical Office, is carried out by technical staff from the Directorate‑General responsible for environmental and natural heritage policies, the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), and the Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF).
A full-time contract is offered (37.5 hours per week) with planned incorporation in April 2026. It will last at least 12 months, with the possibility of extending it if required and the budget allows. The offered salary is €32.194,66 gross per year (corresponding to category T3A).
MAIN FUNCTIONS:
Coordination of the activities led and participated in by the OPNB within Bioagora in the field of biodiversity assessment workflows.
Participation in the processes of collecting, integrating, and analyzing information on biodiversity monitoring and indicators.
Support in drafting the implementation of natura assessments in Catalonia and Europe.
Preparation of technical documents (technical reports on completed tasks, working documents, dissemination materials, etc.).
Collaborative work within the OPNB Technical Office.
Attendance and support at technical project meetings, and liaison at both the Catalan and European level on the afore mentioned topics.
Any other duties or tasks that, by their nature, may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Degree on a topic related to the current project description preferably in the field of life sciences: Biology, Environmental Sciences, or Forestry Engineering, or other fields within the environmental sector.
Previous experience in leading technical assessment reports for international initiatives such as Biodiversa+, MCAP or Bioagora.
Previous experience in database management.
Knowledge of legislation in the field of biodiversity, natural areas, and Natura 2000.
Knowledge of biodiversity monitoring programs and the application of collected information to conservation.
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Catalan.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:
