CREAF is seeking a research technician for developing some of the CREAF contributions to the FRAMEWORK project (“Farmer clusters for Realizing Agrobiodiversity Management across Ecosystems”, ref. H2020-SFS-01-2019-862731-2) in the H2020 program, and MORE4NATURE project (Empowering citizens in collaborative environmental compliance assurance via MOnitoring, REporting and action) with ref. HORIZON-CL6-2023-101133983 and both projects funded by the European Commission.
A full-time contract is offered (37.5h per week), with a planned incorporation as soon as possible until the end of the Framework project currently foreseen by September 2026. The salary offered is €25.388,30 gross per year.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES:
- Apply interoperable solutions to Citizen Science projects in the context of biodiversity.
- Develop demonstrators of web technologies in support of the project needs and in continuation of the group legacy.
- Contribute to the identification of biodiversity and ecosystem services indicators.
- Work on new OGC standards and documents.
- Maintain communication with the relevant project consortium and monitor the project evolution.
- Produce materials/data in supporting writing scientific literature.
- Elaborate the project deliverables assigned to CREAF.
- Contributing to the integration of EU funded projects results in the MiraMon software (desktop, mobile and web) as a mechanism to elevate the TRL of solutions.
- Contribute to the promotion of Grumets research group and to the use of the MiraMon software (desktop, mobile and web).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Informatics, Physics or equivalent.
- GIS skills.
- Experience in previous European Union projects.
- Good level of English, written and spoken.
- Availability for traveling abroad.
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Environmental, Biological Sciences, Geography, Informatics, Physics or similar.
- Previous work on biodiversity and ecosystem services indicators.
- Some level of programming skills in at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, Python, C or similar
- Training and experience in topics such as Ecology, Agriculture, Remote Sensing, Data Management, Citizen Science and application of geospatial standards.
- Fluency in exposing ideas and discussing in public.
- Building or contribution to web map browsing technologies.
- Deep knowledge in geospatial standards (metadata, data quality, sensors, APIs).
- Experience in developing applications in cloud environments such as the Copernicus DIAS.
- Careful attention to details.
- Working independently but in constant coordination with a team.
- Good level of Catalan, written and spoken.

A description and a link to a GitHub (or equivalent) of previous C language projects or developments with particular attention to the ones that are not based on external libraries but in actual algorithmic code done by the candidate, as part of the content of the cover letter.
