CREAF is seeking a research technician to work EU LIFE EBP REINFORCEMENT project (Improving the capabilities of the EuroBirdPortal project in order to boost its contribution towards EU policy objectives under the Birds Directive and the 2030 Biodiversity Strategy) with ref. LIFE22-PLP-ES-EBP-reinforcement/101104367 funded by the European Commission and RESFIRE project (Assessing the potential of REStoring ecological FIRe regimes as Nature-based Solution to extreme wildfires in Mediterranean ecosystems) with ref. PID2023-152690OB-C21 funded by Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 y por FEDER, UE.
The RESFIRE project focuses on addressing the global environmental crisis of biodiversity loss by exploring innovative approaches for ecosystem restoration, particularly in Mediterranean landscapes. The project aims to restore natural processes to reverse ecological degradation. In a context where landscapes have undergone rapid changes due to agricultural abandonment and increased efforts to suppress fires, the project seeks to understand and implement strategies that balance biodiversity conservation with the mitigation of large catastrophic fires..
A full-time contract is offered (37.5 hours per week) foreseen to start in August 2025, and will last until December 31st, 2025, with the possibility of extending it if required and if the budget allows. The offered salary is €25,388.30 gross per year (corresponding to category T4A).
MAIN FUNCTIONS:
- Modelling of species distributions of monitoring data.
- Drafting of technical documents (technical reports, working documents, documents for thedissemination of results...).
- Assistance and support to project’s technical meetings.
- Any other function or task that by its nature is entrusted to them.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant science.
- Proven experience in modelling bird data.
- Advanced knowledge of occupancy modelling.
- Knowledge of fire landscape scale modelling frameworks.
- Previous experience in writing technical reports.
- Possess an appreciation of the benefit of a multi-disciplinary team approach.
- Willingness and availability to travel internationally.
- Great interpersonal skills and collaborative spirit.
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:
- Knowledge of birds.
- Previous work with European Ornithological association researchers.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:
