CREAF is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for RESTICFOR project (Enhancing the natural potential of soil fungal diversity to assist the RESToration and conservation of IConic Spanish FORests under climate change) with ref. EIC23-1-14292 funded by BBVA Foundation's Prisms and Problems 2023 Programs (Programas Prismas y Problemas de la Fundación BBVA 2023) and part of the fellowship Ramon y Cajal (Ramón y Cajal y de las ayudas Juan de la Cierva-formación, del Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica, Técnica y de Innovación para el período 2021-2023, en el marco del Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia, y se aprobó la convocatoria de tramitación anticipada correspondiente al año 2021 (ref. RYC2021-031759-I) funded by Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades and by La Unión Europea.
A full-time contract is offered (37.5 hours per week) with a planned incorporation on 1st November 2025. It will last at least 14 months. The offered salary is €35,596.43 gross per year (corresponding to category I3).
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Assessment of land-use change at the regional scale through comparative analyses of past and current remote sensing images.
Selection and characterization of forest study sites.
Organize field campaigns for sample collection.
Organize and supervise sample processing and analyses.
Curate, organize and analyse ecological data.
Liaise with local authorities and administrations all along the project.
Design and develop strategies for effective transfer of knowledge to relevant stakeholders.
Lead and contribute to the publication of scientific manuscripts.
Compile a database to assess the impact of past land use on soil biodiversity from scientific publications.
Supervision of technical staff and students.
PhD in Terrestrial Ecology or similar.
Demonstrated record of scientific publications in ecology, forest ecology, ecological restoration and rewilding.
Demonstrated experience in scientific project management and stakeholder engagement.
Demonstrated experience with meta-analyses in ecology.
In-depth knowledge of ecological restoration and rewilding.
Advanced experience with GIS software/s and a computing language (R, Phyton, or similar)
Advanced statistical knowledge.
Experience in team coordination and management in an academic/professional environment.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Driver’s licence.
Certified training in 4x4 driving

ASESSABLE CONDITIONS
Experience in evaluating climate and management scenarios of Mediterranean landscapes or forest functioning and dynamics.
Experience in the evaluation of biodiversity or ecosystem services and wildfire risk assessment of Mediterranean forests.
Training in occupational health and safety prevention protocols.
Ability to communicate and write in Catalan and/or Spanish.
