CREAF is seeking a research technician to work for the C4SQ+ (CARBON4SOILQUALITY+) project with ref. Euro-MED0601855, funded by the Euro-Med Programme of the European Union and C4N (COMMUNITY4NATURE) project with ref. Euro-MED0300730 funded by Europe Comission.

CREAF is seeking a research technician to work on the new CARBON4SOILQUALITY+ Interreg Euro-MED Project, with the objective of testing and validating carbon farming-based solutions for improving soil quality in real conditions across 7 Mediterranean territories and turning them into transferable tools, skills, and policy pathways. For this project, we need help coordinating the upscaling and mainstreaming work package, and following up closely on the test case implementation, one of which is at a CREAF-related farm, “Planeses”.

Provided C4SQ+ is part of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme Mission 2 on Protecting, Restoring, and Valorising the Natural Environment and Heritage, where the same CREAF team is responsible for the “Transfer” work package since 2023 (Community for Nature Project with ref. Euro-MED0300730), synergies and shared tasks will be requested.

The person selected will also collaborate with the group of water and global change, to support the work on governance for adaptation to climate change, aiming at mainstreaming research results into decision-making processes and induce transformative adaptation of society to improve the management of natural resources and face the impacts of climate change.

A full-time contract is offered (37.5 hours per week) foreseen to start on July 1st 2026. It will last at least 12 months, with the possibility of extending it if required and if the budget allows. The offered salary is €30.334,66 gross per year (corresponding to category T3B).

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  • Technical coordination of the upscaling and mainstreaming work package for the C4SQ+ project, supervising the development of 4 tasks by project partners, participating in steering committee meetings, and delivering reporting tasks.

  • Technical leadership of promoting the C4SQ+ outputs, creating educational materials, building collaborative networks and mainstreaming policy messages.

  • Represent C4SQ+ in the Community of Practice of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme Mission on Natural Heritage, participating in events, meetings and joint activities.

  • Technical support for organizing events, communication actions and stakeholder engagement.

  • Technical support for the creation and management of actor maps, expert groups and advisory bodies.

  • Technical support for the promotion and management of knowledge mobilisation and transfer processes towards different actors.

  • Technical support for collaboration programs with national and international public administrations (Europe and the Mediterranean).

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with training in Environmental Biology, Environmental Sciences, Biology or similar, as well as Geography, Hydrogeology or Social Sciences related to transference of knowledge are welcome.

  • Proficient knowledge of transference dynamics and approaches, science into policy and societal engagement.

  • Basic knowledge of Political Ecology.

  • Basic knowledge of Agroecology and Regenerative Agriculture

  • Experience in the analysis of environmental policies for adaptation to climate change, especially in the Mediterranean.

  • Experience in the implementation of living labs, governance, consultation and deliberative spaces and workshop facilitation.

  • Previous experience in providing technical support to national and European projects.

  • Accredited experience in the synthesis of conclusions, mail management, organization and work planning.

  • Accredited experience in scientific literature reviewing and synthesizing knowledge in a suitable format for transfer.

  • Ability to coordinate groups and communicate with project partners.

  • Advanced level of oral and written English, Spanish and Catalan.

  • Fluency in presenting ideas and debating in public, as well as moderation skills.

  • Availability to travel.

ASESSABLE CONDITIONS

  • Master’s and/or doctorate in Water Management, Terrestrial Ecology, Nature Conservation or equivalent, as well as Geography, Hydrogeology or Social Sciences.

  • Accredited experience in the preparation of project deliverables and other technical justification tasks for projects.

  • Experience in participating in international research groups, especially in the Mediterranean.

  • Basic knowledge of the Catalan, Spanish and European political and institutional framework for climate change and natural resource management.

  • Experience in stakeholder identification and involvement processes.

  • Peer-reviewed articles and publications on environmental science and climate change topics.

  • Ability to disseminate scientific results in specific formats, such as infographics or ‘policy briefs’.

  • Experience in the design and implementation of communication strategies.

  • Proficiency in French, Italian or other languages.

  • Autonomy, flexibility, responsibility, and the ability to work in a team.

  • Driving license.

  • Candidates with a certified disability of 33% or more will be prioritized, provided the disability is compatible with the position's responsibilities.

SELECTION PROCES AND CRITERIA
