The CREAF is seeking a technician soon to work within the framework of the European project for the MOUNTRESILIENCE project (Accelerating transformative climate adaptation for greater resilience in Europe's mountain regions), with ref. 101112876, funded by the European Commission.

The project's objective is to support European regions and communities located in mountainous areas to increase their capacity to adapt to climate change and transition towards a climate-resilient society by developing, testing, and scaling innovative, multidimensional, and re-applicable solutions in their regional and local environments. The project consists of 6 "Demonstrator" regions and 4 "Replicator" regions, with Catalonia being one of these 4. The role of the "Replicator" regions is to evaluate the actions taken in each of the "Demonstrator" regions and extract actions and best practices that may be of interest to the "Replicator" regions and draft an action plan. In our case, the hired person will have to draft this action plan for the mountain regions of Catalonia.

A full-time contract (37.5 hours/week) is offered, with a planned incorporation in April, 2025 until the March 2028 (35 month). The gross salary offered is €29,015.20annually (corresponding to category T3B).

The job location will be in La Seu d’Urgell, but the person will also have to work on certain days at the CREAF headquarters. There is a possibility of working in a hybrid manner.


MAIN RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Participate in all activities related to the MountResilience project assigned to Catalonia. This includes:
    - Travel to the "Demonstrator" regions (Lapland, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Romania, and Bulgaria) and some "Replicator" regions
    - In-person and virtual meetings
    - Analysis of the results from the various "Demonstrator" regions
    - Drafting an Action Plan for the mountain regions of Catalonia, which must include at least:
    * Analysis of different possible future scenarios, including various solutions and innovations for relevant sectors.
    * A set of concrete actions to be implemented at the regional/local level, including innovation activities and their quantified effects whenever possible.
    * An implementation timeline, with possible intermediate milestones.
    * An indication of the expected costs for the region or local authority(ies) related to each proposed action.
    * An analysis of how these costs can be addressed, particularly by leveraging additional funding at the regional, national, European level, and, when appropriate, other relevant non-financial considerations to facilitate the implementation of the actions.
    * A framework for monitoring the implementation of the actions.
  • Collaborate with the DGPM in their actions related to monitoring the Pyrenees Strategy, especially those relevant within the framework of the MountResilience project.
  • Participate in joint CREAF-DGPM meetings related to the Mountain Observatory.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hold a degree in Environmental Sciences, Geography, Political Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, Global Studies, Economics, Engineering, or similar fields.
  • Advanced level of spoken and written English (C1 or higher).
  • Advanced level of spoken and written Catalan (native, C1 or higher).
  • Advanced user of office software.
  • Basic but demonstrable knowledge in the use of GIS tools.
  • Driver's license and flexibility to travel according to the project's needs.


ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work in a team.
  • A completed Master's degree that complements the Bachelor's degree.
  • Basic but demonstrable knowledge of statistical software (preferably R in the R-Studio environment).
  • Candidates with a certified disability of 33% or more will be prioritized, provided the disability is compatible with the position's responsibilities.


SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:
