CREAF is seeking for a support technician to work in the RestPoll project (Restoring Pollinator habitats across European agricultural landscapes based on multi-actor), with ref. 101082102 funded by European Commission, and AlesAules project (Learning from pollinators as we conserve them), with ref. 2024 IMPAC 00048 and funded by l’Agència de Gestió d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca.
RestPoll is a project to the establishment of a European network of pollinator restoration case-study areas and Living Labs. RestPoll will work at various spatial scales (field, farm, landscape, region) in areas dominated by intensively managed crops or grasslands. The CREAF group will work in the restauration of apple farms with different agricultural management models. The outcomes of the project will be disseminated across Europe.
Alesaules project aims, to disseminate key information about the reality and importance of pollinating insects, their diversity, and their conservation status within the educational communities of different schools; and to empower the students and teachers themselves to improve the conservation status of pollinators in their immediate environment.
A full-time contract (37.5 hours/week) is offered, with a planned incorporation in january 2026 until March 16, 2027. The offered salary is €23,690.41 gross per year (corresponding to category T4B).
MAIN FUNCTIONS:
Field sampling in agricultural areas of pollinators and natural enemies using different methodologies.
Evaluation of pollination and fruiting levels in apple trees.
Botanical characterization of plant covers.
Processing of entomological samples.
Qualitative and quantitative evaluation of fruits.
Creation of databases.
Delivery and organization of basic environmental education courses and technical workshops about pollinators.
Desing of educational materials.
REQUIREMENTS:
Degree in Environmental Biology, Biology, Environmental Sciences or related disciplines.
Experience in pollinator sampling campaigns in fruit trees.
Experience in sampling campaigns for pests and natural enemies of fruit trees.
Experience in assessing pollination deficits.
Experience in processing insect specimens.
Experience in quantitative and qualitative harvest assessment.
Experience working with databases.
Experience and training in environmental education.
Experience in designing educational materials.
Driving license type B.
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:
Professional experience in the agricultural sector.
Basic taxonomic training in pollinators.
Ability to work in a team.
Priority will be given to candidates with a recognized and certified disability of 33% or higher, provided that the disability is compatible with the proper performance of the position.
