CREAF is seeking for a technical support assistant, for the CONCERTO project “Improved Carbon cycle representation through multi-scale models and Earth observation for Terrestrial ecosystems” HORIZON-CL5-2024-D1-01-07, (Grant Agreement 101185000). funded by the European Commission.
Earth system models differ widely in their estimates of carbon uptake by ecosystems. This not only makes it difficult to predict future climate conditions, but also makes it difficult to implement policies to mitigate them. To address this, the EU-funded CONCERTO project aims to strengthen European ecosystem research by establishing a consortium of experts in Earth observation, process modelling, data assimilation and machine learning. It will produce high-resolution maps that include carbon cycle layers related to land cover and management, as well as biomass production. By incorporating new data sources, it will also address ecosystem response and vegetation recovery after fires and climate extremes. Overall, CONCERTO will provide efficient models that will improve understanding and facilitate monitoring of the terrestrial carbon cycle.
A part-time contract (30 hours/week) is offered, with a planned incorporation in february 2026 until December 31st, 2028. The offered salary is €14.578,71 gross per year (corresponding to category T6).
