CREAF is pleased to announce 2 research positions as part of our new ERC Recruitment Program. This program aims to attract and support talented researchers who demonstrate the potential and commitment to apply for an ERC Grant (StG or CoG) during the 2-year contract in the framework of the SEVERO OCHOA program, with ref. CEX2023-001340-S, funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033.

WHAT WE OFFER:
- A 2-year full-time contract with incorporation between September 2025 and March 2026.
- 35.422,78 (ERC StG candidate) – 37,705.39 € (ERC CoG candidate) annual gross salary.
- Up to 8000€/ year as research budget (conferences, meetings, etc.).

TASKS:
- Develop and submit an ERC Grant (StG o CoG) proposal during the 2-year contract.
- Conduct high-quality research.
- Lead high quality scientific publications.
- Collaborate with CREAF researchers and international partners to enhance scientific impact.
- Participate in external outreach and academic activities to promote your research.
- Contribute to CREAF’s mission of becoming a competitive host institution for ERC grantees.
- Prepare an annual report on scientific activities conducted, to be shared with CREAF’s Severo Ochoa Panel.
- Contribute to internal committees and working groups for the management of the center when postdoctoral representation is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A completed PhD on a topic related to CREAF’s research.
- Demonstrable eligibility to submit an ERC proposal (StG o CoG) at least at one call during the 2-year contract. You should consider the years of experience since completion of your PhD and also the extension rules. More information: https://erc.europa.eu/apply-grant/.
- Strong potential and commitment to apply for an ERC Grant within the 2-year contract.
- Demonstrated ability to submit a proposal that is both ground-breaking and ambitious while ensuring their feasibility.
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to advancements in the research field.
- Experience in developing and leading proposals for competitive project applications.
- Proven ability to work independently from the PhD supervisor.
- International experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Advanced knowledge of English.
- Candidates with a certified disability of 33% or more will be prioritized, provided the disability is compatible with the position's responsibilities.
COMMITMENT:
- All selected candidates must sign a letter of commitment to submit a proposal within the specified time frame. If a selected candidate is unable to meet this requirement, their contract may be discontinued.
- Selected candidates are expected to demonstrate their ongoing commitment by submitting an annual follow-up report to CREAF’s Severo Ochoa Panel.
SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:
- Application Submission: Candidates must apply for the job offer submitting the following TEMPLATE (max. 10 pages) before 31st March 2025 at 14h. Applications will only be accepted through CREAF’s job portal.
- Pre-selection: determination of compliance with the requirements of the offer.
- Selection: Our selection process is designed to be transparent and inclusive. Candidates will be assessed based on the overall quality and impact of their research outputs, with a focus on original and impactful contributions rather than traditional metrics. We are committed to promoting gender balance and inclusivity in our recruitment. Selection Committee made by 4-5 people will be published after the interviews and all members will sign a confidentiality agreement to safeguard the privacy of the proposal.
- Phase 1: assessment of the preselected candidates by scoring based on the information provided in the template.
- Phase 2: Short-listed candidates will be called to an interview. Candidates who are interviewed will receive qualitative feedback on their applications to promote transparency and demonstrate fair, supportive recruitment practices. - Final decision: in case of finding the suitable candidates, the election will be formally communicated, and the identification of the selected researchers will be published on CREAF job opening section.
